Aghi in fascetti di 2, verde intenso, leggermente contorti e appuntiti, lunghi fino a 20 cm.. Pianta monoica con infiorescenze separate ma sulla stessa pianta. Coni globosi molto grandi e pesanti, di colore bruno-rossiccio, impiegano tre anni per maturare. Ogni squama porta 2 semi commestibili, i pinoli, racchiusi in gusci legnosi.
